On May 25, 2026 , Bom Dia Brasil, on TV Globo , aired a report about the increase in cases of domestic violence against children and adolescents in the country.

The numbers are worrying: data from the National Council of Justice (CNJ) shows that lawsuits related to domestic violence against children and adolescents hit a record high in 2025. There were 7,595 cases , a 33% increase compared to 2024 .
At the same time, experts point to an important change: society is more prepared to recognize signs of violence that previously remained invisible.
But there is an essential question: How can you tell when a child might be asking for help?
Children are not always able to express suffering with words.
Often, a cry for help manifests as changes in behavior.
A very talkative child may suddenly become quiet. Another may start apologizing excessively, blaming themselves for everything, or suddenly change their habits and behaviors.
These signs, taken individually, may not mean much. But when they appear together, they deserve attention.
Prevention is also something that can be learned.
The Bom Dia Brasil news report showcased the work of Núcleo Espiral , an organization that focuses on the care and prevention of violence against children and adolescents through emotional education.
At Núcleo Espiral, books, games, and socio-educational materials help children to:
recognizing emotions
naming feelings
Strengthen secure bonds.
Learn healthy ways to deal with conflict.
Because protecting children also involves helping them understand emotions, ask for help, and find safe adults.
As the report highlighted, a society that doesn't learn to deal with feelings can end up transforming suffering into violence.
Breaking cycles starts early.
