Over decades of work with children, adolescents, and families, psychologist Neusa Maria Lopes Sauaia developed an approach focused on preventing violence, strengthening relationships, and fostering resilience.
This methodology, which inspires the projects, courses, and training programs of Núcleo Espiral, is built upon five interconnected pillars that support personal and collective transformation.

1. Resilience
Resilience is the ability to face adversity, process difficult experiences, and move forward with greater inner resources.
The Método Espiral seeks to strengthen personal resources that help heal emotional wounds, build self-esteem, and expand one's capacity to cope with situations of violence and suffering.
More than overcoming challenges, it is about transforming difficult experiences into opportunities for growth and empowerment.
2. Experience

We believe that some of the deepest learning happens through lived experience.
Through practical activities, reflection, and the revisiting of personal life stories, participants are invited to deepen self-awareness, recognize their strengths, and discover new possibilities for their lives and professional practice.
Experience becomes an essential part of the learning process.

3. Body
The Método Espiral recognizes the body as an important source of support and transformation.
Inspired by somatic and body-centered approaches, this work encourages presence, awareness of the present moment, and access to inner resources that are often overlooked.
By integrating body and emotions, we create conditions that support healing and the reconstruction of lives affected by violence.

4. Group
It is through connection with others that we learn respect, empathy, boundaries, and coexistence.
Group work fosters meaningful relationships, strengthens support networks, and creates opportunities to experience new ways of relating.
In a safe and welcoming environment, social connections can be restored and rebuilt, contributing to both individual and collective development.

5. Symbol
Inspired by the analytical psychology of Carl Gustav Jung, the Método Espiral uses symbolic resources to encourage reflection, expression, and transformation.
Each activity carries meaning and helps participants process experiences, gain deeper self-understanding, and create new perspectives on their life journey.
More than completing a task, it is about living meaningful experiences in an environment of care, acceptance, and human connection.

From Book to Practice
The five pillars of the Método Espiral are presented in the book O Método Espiral: Transformando dor em resiliência.
In this work, Neusa Maria Lopes Sauaia shares the foundations, principles, and results of a methodology developed through decades of practice with children, adolescents, and families.
For professionals who wish to deepen their understanding of this approach, Núcleo Espiral's courses and training programs offer opportunities to experience its principles and resources in practice.
